Q.1	Who has to register to GCAS portal?
Ans	GCAS portal serves as a platform for applying to have an admission in any of the state’s 15 government universities and their affiliated college’s programs. However, only students who apply for admission to university-college-programs through the GCAS portal will be considered for admission to the programs listed on the GCAS portal of the state's 15 government universities.
Q.2	Does a student get admitted to the university or college through GCAS portal?
Ans	A student can register on the GCAS portal and secure admission in the college program of their choice in accordance with the prevailing rules of the respective university/college.
Q.3	In how many languages is data/ information available on the GCAS portal?
Ans	GCAS Portal is a bi-lingual portal. The information is available in both English and Gujarati languages.
Q.4	Can a student apply for multiple courses/Program/University/College through one application?
Ans	A student can choose more than one program-college-university in a single application. But student can get admission to single program through one application.
Q.5	Will there be a common timeline for the procedures of registration to admission to different UG, PG and Ph.D. programs? What could be the procedure of the complete registration process for a student?
Ans	There will be separate schedule for the procedure from registration to admission for Graduation programs, Post-Graduation programs and Ph.D. The students have to fill their registration forms with academic details, choice of colleges they want to take an admission in, registration fees payment and final submission of the application as per the schedule applicable to the courses they are applying for. After the final submission of registration form, the students have to check provisional admission offer list, register their grievance, if any, and get them resolved, check final admission offer list, check admission offered by login in GCAS portal and confirm their admission after paying the fees along with the document verification at the college they want to seek an admission in.
Q.6	How many colleges a student can choose for any course on the GCAS Portal?
Ans	Presently, there is no limit on the choice of the number of colleges for any course on the GCAS portal.
Q.7	Can I change my email ID and/or mobile number used for registration on the GCAS Portal?
Ans	Students are recommended to be careful while filling in the Registration form. Email id and Mobile Number once used for registration must be retained with the students until the completion of the admission process as they are used for a correspondence related to admissions and hence after. It is a mandatory field, so fill it very carefully as they cannot be changed.
Q.8	What are the additional documents required for students who have passed Std. 12 from boards other than GSHEB?

Q.9	Can I change the preferred list of colleges selected by me after the submission of the application on the GCAS Portal?
Ans	Yes. The student can update the details of his application by the last date of application if he wants even after the final submission of his application. But after every such update/edit/correction, it is mandatory to submit the application.
Q.10	Can I change the major subject of the course after submitting the application on the GCAS Portal?
Ans	The student can update the main/major subject of his/her course by the last date of application even after the final submission of the application. But after every such update/edit/correction, it is mandatory to submit the application.
Q.11	What if the result of my board is not declared before the last date of application on the GCAS Portal?
Ans	If any board has not declared its results during the first round of admission process on GCAS portal, the student may apply during the second round of admission process on GCAS portal which shall be conducting after the declaration of the results of Supplementary/Compartment Examination (પૂરક પરીક્ષા) of GHSEB subject to availability of the seats.
Q.12	What if the server/site hangs during the application process on the last day, and I could not submit the final application?
Ans	All possible measures are taken during the development phase to avoid such a situation. However, such a problem may arise due to Internet issues or if a large number of students access the website simultaneously. The registration form has a “Save & Next” feature, which you may use if you are not able to complete the entire form in one session. You are recommended to click on the “Save” button on each page/session separately to save the information, and you may proceed with filling out the remaining online registration form after refreshing the link or logging into your account in another session. You are also recommended not to wait till the last day to complete or submit the online form.
Q.13	Is there any concession on registration fees for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD applicants?
Ans	Registration fees apply to all students without concession. However, reserved category students may get concession in admission fees as per the rules and regulations of respective colleges/universities as per the Government of Gujarat norms.
Q.16	How do I start the registration process?
Ans	You begin by filling out the registration form with your academic details and selecting the colleges where you wish to apply for admission.
Q.17	What information do I need to provide in the registration form?
Ans	You'll need to fill in your academic details and specify your choices of Program-University-College for admission.
Q.18	How do I pay the registration fees?
Ans	Payment of registration fees can be made through the specified method outlined in the registration guidelines. You can pay the fee online by clicking on the 'Payment' button displayed on the dashboard with your log-in ID on the GCAS portal.
Q.19	What happens after I submit my registration form?
Ans	After submission, you'll need to check the provisional admission offer list when published and you may register your grievances, if any, to the respective College-University.
Q.20	How can I resolve any grievances I have with the admission process?
Ans	You can visit the Grievance Cell of concerned University/College and seek redressal of your grievances.
Q.21	How do I know if I've been offered final admission?
Ans	To check which college you have been admitted to, click on the 'Offer' button displayed on the dashboard after logging into your GCAS portal account.
Q.22	What's the next step after receiving a final admission offer?
Ans	After receiving the final admission offer, click on the 'Offer' button displayed on the dashboard after logging into your GCAS portal account. Download the offer letter for the program-college-university of your choice, where you intend to enroll and visit the University/College in person."
Q.23	What documents do I need to provide for admission confirmation?
Ans	At the time of admission, ensure that you bring all original certificates uploaded on the GCAS portal. Additionally, it is recommended to carry one set of self-attested photocopies of these certificates.
Q.24	When should I confirm my admission after receiving a final offer?
Ans	Upon receiving the final offer from your chosen college, it is important to promptly contact the college within the specified time frame as per schedule to secure your admission.
Q.25	What if I have additional questions about the admission process?
Ans	If you have any further inquiries, you can refer to the provided guidelines or reach out to the respective University/College for assistance.
Q.26	How do I register for the admission process?
Ans	You can register by filling in your basic details such as Course Type, Applicant’s Name, Birth Date, Category, Gender, Email, and Mobile Number on the registration portal. Make sure to complete your Basic Profile as well.
Q.27	When can I fill in my academic details and choose colleges?
Ans	Once the results of the qualifying examination (Std. 12 or final year/semester of your College/University) are announced and you get the hardcopy of your mark sheet, you can fill in your academic details, select colleges, upload required documents, and pay the registration fees within the specified timeline.
Q.28	What if my qualification mark sheets are in terms of Grades/CGPA?
Ans	You must obtain Conversion Certificates in the form of marks and percentages from your respective Board/University and upload them as it is mandatory.
Q.29	How many colleges should I choose, and is it necessary to select all colleges within a university?
Ans	In universities other than Gujarat University, it is mandatory to select at least one college per program. However, Gujarat University requires selecting at least 3 colleges for B.A. (English Medium), 3 for Integrated Law, and 25 for B.Com. Program, and at least 5 colleges for all other programs.
Q.30	Is there a deadline for submitting the application?
Ans	Yes. It is mandatory to submit the online application by the deadline specified in the guidelines for the respective programs available on the GCAS portal. It's important to note that students can edit their application until the final application deadline.
Q.31	What happens if a student doesn't submit their corrected application?
Ans	Applications that are not submitted after corrections until the final application deadline will not be considered for admission.
Q.32	When will the provisional admission offer list be declared?
Ans	The publication date of the provisional admission list is indicated in the guidelines for respective programs available on the GCAS portal. Additionally, students are advised to regularly check the website of the respective University/College for updates.
Q.33	How can students view the provisional admission offer list?
Ans	Students can view the list for all universities/colleges/programs they selected in the admission form by logging into the GCAS portal.
Q.34	What can students do if they have any grievances regarding the provisional admission offer list?
Ans	Students can register their grievances by visiting the Grievance Cell of respective University/College as per the schedule provided.
Q.35	When will the final admission offer list be declared?
Ans	The announcement of final admission offer list will be made according to the date specified in the program guidelines available on the GCAS portal. Additionally, students are advised to regularly check the website of the respective University/College for any updates.
Q.36	How can students confirm their admission offers?
Ans	To obtain their offer letter and confirm admission, students should log in to their account on the GCAS portal and click on the 'Offers' button on the dashboard. They can then print out the offer letter for the college where they have been admitted, proceed to the respective college, and confirm their admission. To complete the process, students need to provide the OTP received on his/her registered mobile number or email address to the college authorities and confirm admission.
Q.37	Who is eligible for consideration in the second round of admissions?
Ans	Only students who have registered on the GCAS portal and submitted their application, but have not been admitted to any college in the first round, will be eligible for the second round. Students who have not confirmed admission to their chosen college in the first round will not be eligible for admission to that college in the subsequent rounds.
Q.38	What does it mean to not be admitted to any college in the first round?
Ans	It means the student has neither confirmed admission nor been allotted admission to any college in the first round.
Q.39	What is the Updated Admission Offer List?
Ans	The University/College will announce this list for vacant seats after the completion of the first round of admissions.
Q.40	How can students confirm their admission offers in the second round?
Ans	After the updated admission list is released, the final admission offers will be displayed on the student's dashboard on the GCAS portal. A student can then print out the offer letter for the college in which they are admitted among their choices, proceed to the respective college, and confirm the admission. To complete the process, students need to provide the OTP received on his/her registered mobile number or email address to the college authorities and confirm admission.
Q.41	Who is eligible for consideration in the third round of admissions?
Ans	Only students who have registered and submitted their application on the GCAS portal but have not been admitted to any college in both the first and second rounds will be eligible for the third round.
Q.42	What does it mean to not be admitted to any college in the first and second rounds?
Ans	It means the student has neither confirmed admission nor been allotted admission to any college in both the first and second rounds.
Q.43	Can non-admitted students get admission and update their choice of university-college-program after the second round?
Ans	Students who have not been admitted after the completion of second round, can update their university-college-program choice on the GCAS portal at the beginning of the third round as per the schedule provided in the guidelines.
Q.44	Who can update their choices on the GCAS portal?
Ans	Only students who have not confirmed admission or not been admitted in the first and second rounds are allowed to update their choices.
Q.45	While paying registration fees online, the amount is deducted from my bank account, but it is not showing on the GCAS Portal. What should I do?
Ans	In cases of fee payment issues, the student should contact the bank through which the fee was paid. For any technical problems, they should contact the technical helpline provided on the portal.
Q.46	How can I retrieve my forgotten password for the GCAS Portal?

Q.47	What should I do if I meet technical issues while filling out the application on the GCAS Portal?

Q.48	Only Major subject is available on the GCAS Portal. What should I do to get details of Minor or Multidisciplinary subjects?
Ans	GCAS portal serves as a platform solely for the registration of admission applications. For information regarding minor and multidisciplinary subjects, academic qualifications, reservation rules, merit criteria, etc., students can refer to the respective university-college website or contact them directly.
Q.49	Is there any helpline number available to assist the queries related to the GCAS Portal?
Ans	Yes. You can contact the helpline number of GCAS portal - 079-22880080.
Q.50	During the admission process will I get the details of empty seats of the colleges I’ve selected?
Ans	GCAS portal is for registration of admission applications only. A student may get details of empty seats through the respective Colleges/Universities.
Q.51	In the GCAS portal, I have created my account and filled in my registration form. Can I use the same account to fill in the registration form for my friend?
Ans	No, only a single candidate can apply from one account for GCAS Portal.
Q.52	I do not have an email account. Can I use the email of someone else to create registration?
Ans	No, you should not use the email id of anyone else. It is advisable to register through your own personal email id. You must create a valid email account and remember its password, as all the communication from the GCAS will be sent to your registered email.
Q.53	Will the students be eligible for registration to GCAS if they have passed their qualifying exams before the academic year 2023-24? Will there be any disadvantage to such students with gap?
Ans	Yes, any student who have passed the qualifying exam can register for the course of interest at GCAS. GCAS portal is for registration of admission applications only. For admission and/or eligibility related queries, a student/candidate may contact the respective Colleges/ Universities.
Q.54	What is Domicile Certificate?
Ans	Domicile Certificate is an official document to prove that a person is a resident of State/UT.
Q.55	What is Migration Certificate?
Ans	Migration Certificate is a document which helps in getting admission to another institution or any education board and it is issued at the completion of the course along with other necessary documents. It is issued by the concerned university or Board in which one studies.
Q.56	What is Conversion Certificate?
Ans	Conversion Certificate is issued where grades/CGPA is to be converted into marks/percentages. It is issued by the board/university one studies in.
Q.57	What is Provisional Eligibility Certificate?
Ans	Provisional Eligibility Certificate is a temporary certificate provided by the university one seeks an admission in. Students will get the Certificate from the university after a particular time period of the application for Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC). It has to be submitted in case of change of university in admission procedure. i.e., if one has done graduation from one university and he/she wants to do post-graduation from another university the PEC should be submitted.
Q.58	I do not have ABC ID. What should I do?
Ans	ABC ID is not mandatory field on GCAS portal. One can also apply through GCAS portal even if he/she doesn’t have ABC ID.
